Consultancy

Our consultant is Paolo Fubini, Managing Director of Arrampica Limited, a qualified AMI member, BAIML member, ERCA member and ABC Trade member with a vast range of experiences covering commercial, charity, community, institutional, special needs and educational type facilities. Also a holder of the IPAF Powered Access qualification and IRATA level 1.

His early years' background covers managerial roles in the paper merchant market, estate agency, climbing and mountaineering holidays and courses.

Paolo has worked for Surrey County Council, Outdoor Education Centres, The Youth Offending Service, Her Majesties Prison Service, Vertex Climbing Centre, Charterhouse Climbing Centre, Westway Climbing Centre, Craggy Island Climbing Centre, Thomas School, Oxted School, Ursuline High School, Bearwood College, Chessington Community College, East Surrey Schools Sports Partnership, Castle Climbing Centre, ROKT, Reebok Gym, Malton Community, Leagrave, High Ashurst, Thames Young Mariners, Kingsnympton, Kensington & Chelsea Borough, MOTIV8, Halliford School, Burrs Activity, Swatterton Centre, DR Climbing Walls, Royal Grammar and Go Ape in various positions as freelance, part time, full time and technical advisor type roles. He is a course director and provider for MLTE NGB training and assessment qualifications plus a member of ERCA for Ropes Course Development.

Centres exist for various differing reasons, some purely commercial, others educational but for most it is a balance of the two and it is this balance along-side the available resources and ethos that suggests in which way I will advise a centre to proceed to develop its climbing type facilities. I guarantee that calling me in as a Consultant to advise any climbing centre will rapidly educate its management and afford the centre a clear direction and purpose."

Paolo has represented centres at the ABC and has contributed to working groups for production of artificial climbing centres rescue practices, development of the NICAS (National Indoor Climbing Award Scheme) and other key issues. Paolo has been working at centres in development of climbing squads, education packages, risk assessments, best practice and all aspects of training and assessments, working on all types of rock and mountaineering courses both indoor and outdoor. Many facilities have had their operating procedures for AALS, ABC, LOtC and other accreditations advised upon by Paolo.

Paolo has another aspect to his experiences; he has advised on builds, put in place all aspects of running facilities to include strong financial reporting and accounting.
